I know they say there's no such thing as a "stupid question," and most management will have some tolerance for this during your first few weeks, but if 3 months down the line you're asking me how to type in a SKU for an item that doesn't scan when I know darn well you've been walked through it 57 times by senior staff, well.I just might have a say in how many shifts you end up with next week. Oh, also, don't ask a million stupid questions. It sounds like you're passionate and excited for this job, so I have a pretty good feeling you'll do just fine! My best advice: be a fast learner, have a positive attitude about everything (even when being reprimanded - hold your head up high and commit to learning from it), and FOR HEAVENS SAKES DON'T CALL OUT or get your shifts covered excessively. So if you were getting 4-12 hours before, you might be working 24+ hours a week. During peak season (Sep-Dec), sales and hours increase, and if you're a valued employee who's proven themselves, you will not only be scheduled more, but you'll be asked to work extra: staying later, covering call outs, taking on more responsibility. During the off-season, it's vastly dependent on payroll available for the store, which is based on its volume code and sales throughout the week.
